The Usual (Days 701 - 710)

Change of plans! (As usual.) I'm postponing all new cosplays until I get some other stuff taken care of . Nothing major, just stuff I've been meaning to do that I haven't yet. So I'm just going to fix up some of the cosplays that I already have, since currently, I have no complete cosplays. Formerly complete ones have been taken apart for updates and were never put back together, heh.

I plan to work on:
  • Time-Skip Yoko Littner (Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagann)
    • 80% finished - need to finish boots, jacket, and rifle
  • Mercedes (South Park)
    • 90% finished - need to fix/finish shirt and finish styling wig
  • Young Franziska von Karma (Ace Attorney)
    • 90% - 95% finished - need to remake cravat (again) and maybe get new boots
I also might work my Koffing gijinka (Pokemon), which only needs a wig and a prop hammer. My only backup cosplay is my genderbent Mario, which come to think of it, I've only worn to small conventions anyway.

I would still love, love, love to cosplay both White Mage (Final Fantasy I) and Ironette (Iron Man 2), along with a few other new things, but I just don't have the money right now.

  1. How did your Franziska come out? :3

  2. Franziska came out well, actually. She needs some updating because every time I wear it, the cravat breaks in some way. The most recent picture I have is on my cosplay.com account here: http://www.cosplay.com/photo/3059551/

  3. Ah, thanks for the link! The cosplay looks great! :3 The cravat looks just fine to me, but I completely understand the frustrations it probably put you through. I've had to make them before, and it takes a few times to figure them out. :3

Btw, White Mage would be cute! Classic FF for the win. :D

  4. Thanks so much :) The cravat's okay, it just rips/breaks, my construction on it wasn't very good, it was really frustrating to figure out how to make, and the gem is really heavy.

I love White Mage so so so so much! I'm actually looking at the pattern I might use to make it right now. To be honest, I'm trying to figure out if/where I can cut corners because this baby calls for 8+ yards of fabric!

  5. White Mage is a super cute design! But 8+ yards is a lot of money to be dropping. Unless you can find a decent alternative material online somehow? I have a few sites where decent materials can be purchased at $4.99-ish a yard. But... then again, I live in LA, and we're right next to the fabric district, so that's normally my go-to.

I hope you can make it!

I'm working on a Castlevania costume for the next Anime Expo. Looking at the same deal, 8+ yards of fabric... oy.

Good luck, and thank you for replying to me!

  6. Yeah, White Mage is absolutely adorable, and I really enjoyed using her in-game too. When I'm lucky, I can get 50% off coupons to JoAnn's, and that's pretty much the only way I'll be able to afford to make it, if I get a bunch of those.

Good luck to you too! Always happy to talk to someone about this stuff. :)
